Matt Lurz
Founding pastor
Matt has been in ministry for over 32 years, 16 of which have been here in Colorado. He started out in student ministries, missions, and Associate Pastor roles, which has had him working in all areas of ministry within the church community. Matt has always had a passion for serving, and this passion has taken him all over the world, leading over 200 mission trips. Matt loves adventure, and he and his wife, Amanda, have begun a new one with their blended family of 8. Matt considers himself a life-long learner and is currently working towards his additional Divinity degrees at Duke University.
In 2024, Matt felt God calling him to his newest adventure – starting a church! This calling was confirmed by a group of friends who saw a need for a community focused on love and care for each other and the surrounding communities. Matt is thrilled to help our community grow in Christ and share Him with others.
Lacy Edelen
Founding Director of Children’s MinistryLacy has worn many hats as an adult and wears many hats at CCC. From Children’s Director to event planner, she is always ready to roll up her sleeves and help with what is needed! Her heart and passion is our senior community and the children. She loves being a part of a child learning about God and helping that child lay their foundation of faith so they can lean on it as they get older and life gets more challenging.
She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and that is where she met her husband, Jamie. They have 2 daughters who keep them busy, either on a field or in a gym, and a dog that is just happy to be a part of the pack.
Lacy never imagined that she would be a part of such an adventure! Being a part of the team and starting a new church has truly been a God thing and something she is so blessed to get to be a part of. God is so good!
Nikki Poburka
Founding Worship LeaderNikki has grown up with a love for serving Christ in many different ways, but most notably through worship. She joined a worship band when she was 10 years old and for 15 years, served in various different roles. She led playing piano for years but picked up guitar during COVID.
When Nikki is not leading worship, she is usually spending time with her family and her two cats. She enjoys weight lifting and spending time outdoors in Gods creation. While there are many churches in Colorado Springs, she feels that there is something incredibly special about this community of people who care about each other and have a huge heart for service.
David Muerer
Worship LeaderDavid has been leading worship for 20 years. His favorite scripture on worship is 1 Corinthians 10:31 stating “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
When David is not leading worship, he is usually spending time with his family or running the trails of Colorado Springs.
JW Boyles
Worship LeaderJ.W. and his family have lived in Colorado Springs since 2022. He has been involved in church music off and on for 25 years, most recently as the choir director at a church in Parker, CO. One of his musical passions is leading worship. While music is not his full-time career, he does enjoy exploring it outside of work. He is also member of ChoralSong of Colorado Springs and enjoys performing with them.
He and his wife have 3 teenage children and when not working he enjoys hanging out with them. He also enjoys hiking, photography, music, of course, and woodworking. He feels blessed to be a part of Christ City Church and looks forward to being a part of the work God is doing there through ministry and worship.
